Bicylists ride 100 miles just to see the Mighty Filberts - October 7, 2007

On Sunday, Oct. 7th, the Mighty Filberts shared the stage with our friends Back Porch Revival. We played at the finish line for the tired bicyclist at the Harvest Century bike ride. The rain was pouring on our tent but a good time was still had by all

A banjo recital? - September 30, 2007

All of the Mighty Filberts are also music students so we welcomed the opportunity to share the stage with the students of Suzanne's banjo teacher, Rene Berblinger. Judging by the applause, the enthusiatic audience approved of our new Filberts Brenda and Rich.

Dolores steals the show - August 25, 2007

Frank's beautiful daughter, Dolores, has discovered the joy of being on stage. Catch one of our shows and you will hear six year old Dolores sing "The Fox". It doesn't matter what kind of intricate harmonies or fancy picking the rest of us do, everyone raves about Dolores.

State Fair Fun - August 25, 2007

Ever wonder about the "glamerous" life of a musician? Here's a reality check. We arrived at the state fair a full two hours early to start unloading and setting up the equipment. It is a lengthy and back breaking part of the job that we don't particularly enjoy. We did have a great time at the state fair but the stage was about thirty feet to the left from the glass blower's roaring furnace. When we turned on our microphones it amplified the sound of the glass blower and it was akin to performing during a thunder storm. Let's not forget the noise of the chainsaw artist to the back of us, the blacksmith pounding iron to our right and the occassional freight train that passed just behind us. Still, we love it and we were happy to have the opportunity to perform.

Spreading the Joy - August 24, 2007

What better audience could there be than to sing at local nursing home? The residents were so happy to see us and to hear our music. When we asked them for requests we sang "Home on the Range" several times because they enjoyed it so much that once just wasn't enough.

We were all touched when we saw the sweetest elderly man reach over to the woman sitting next to him and say "I'll never leave you, Honey" when we were singing "Who Will Watch the Old Home Place." When we left we asked how long they have been married and learned that he has a wife at home.

We're back - August 10, 2007

As of August 14th, Frank is back from Mexico and the Filberts are once again making music. We kick off our joyous reunion with a perfomance at the state fair
(see the calendar for more info).

Sound Bytes Coming Soon - July 1, 2007

Keep posted to hear our sound bytes. We spent some time in the studio and we're waiting for the songs to be mixed.

This week we bid a temporary goodbye to Filbert Frank who is off to Texas to visit his parents and then to Mexico where he has a home. Frank, we will miss you! It's just not the same without our fiddle player.
